Thursday Three For All

It’s Thursday, kiddies: the day when I roll out a few things I’ve been reading over the past week. Three of ‘em, to be exact. Enjoy. (Remember: click on the big bold print to read the entire article.)

Go Ahead Leaders, Take That Vacation

(via @michaelhyatt) This’ll be me over the next few days. Ask me how excited I am. (spoiler: very)

The days are getting shorter again, but it’s not too late to take a few days off before the end of summer. August is often the perfect month to take some time away from work.

You should consider getting away for a bit because you probably need it. Vacations are vital for rejuvenation, especially for high-achievers.

And yet people constantly tell me they don’t know how to get time away or what to do with themselves when they get time off. So I’ve put together 7 strategies for how leaders can best plan and enjoy vacations.

Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover…Judge By It’s First Page

(via @lifehacker) Yesterday was #BookLoversDay. For those of you who – like me – enjoy nothing more than getting lost in reading, this is an interesting site that’ll help you break out of your routine.

Recommendmeabook.com shows you the first page of a random popular book, stripped of identifying info. If you like it, reveal the cover; if you don’t, click “next book.”

For example: How does this strike you?

My morning swim doesn’t usually involve corpses. If it did, I’d give up swimming for something less stressful, like coaxing cobras out of baskets or my mother out of bed before ten.

Orangutan Dresses Up Like a Ghost to Get His Friend’s Attention

(via @laughingsquid) Seriously, people: how many more primate videos do I need to share to make you take the hint? I need someone to purchase an orangutan for me.
