Danny Recommends: EWA Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Every so often we dip our toes into a series called Danny Recommends:, posts that tip you off to the stuff that I…you know. The recommendations might be products for use in your ministry, resources that will help you develop leaders around you, or just fun stuff that you need. Want. Whatever. I have a full list of recommended books and such over at the Reading List, but these posts will go into further detail. For other posts in the series, check out the link at the bottom.
I’m just going to cut straight to it: one of my favorite Christmas gifts of last year was the EWA A106 Pro Bluetooth Speaker. I’ve been the owner of a few Bluetooth speakers over the years, and end up using one in some context just about every day. But this one immediately occupied a special place in my 20 KHz heart (I have no idea what that means, but I figure it sounds impressive).
Merriem saw this on some Facebook post / Instagram reel / TikTok dance off / whatever. They sang its praises, and now I’m here to tell you it lives up to the hype. Here’s what I love:
Size.
This rascal is small. I’ve been looking for a brown noise solution for when I travel, and this is it. It weighs 7 ounces and is less than two inches in any direction.
Volume.
I couldn’t believe how loud this thing could get. I immediately pulled one of the songs from my Throwback Christmas Music list (Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, if it matters) and cranked it, just to test things out. Much like my grandchildren, it’s so loud to be so tiny.
Sound quality.
Make no mistake: the EWA is not going to replace your church sound system. And know that I’m not necessarily your poster child for expertise on woofers and tweeters and other words that I don’t know how to define. But this little device could easily serve as background music for a family dinner or setting a mood for your Volunteer Headquarters.
Price.
Less than twenty bucks. Less than twenty bucks. I’ve regretted haircuts that cost more than that.
For me, though, the real benefit is the ability to toss this in a carry-on bag or a backpack and use it as a travel brown noise player (I also recommend SimplyNoise as a companion app). With only five hours of battery life, you’re going to need to keep it connected to power unless you’re a weirdo who only sleeps for four and a half.
Order the EWA A106.

Disclaimer: FTC watchdogs will probably want to know that the vendors listed / linked above did not ask for this endorsement, nor did they provide me with free swag in order to do so. I’m just a really satisfied fan who wants to let you know about helpful things. I only promote items that have benefitted me and that I believe will benefit you. So there.
