Giving Tuesday: Libre Retreats
Here in the good ol’ U.S.A., we’ve survived Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Are-These-Leftovers-Still-Okay-to-Eat Sunday, and Cyber Monday.
But today is Giving Tuesday, and for the first time ever, I’m highlighting that day and an organization worthy of your support.
Libre Retreats is an incredible ministry that provides rest and renewal for weary pastors and their families. Through Libre’s growing network of vacation properties, they’re able to provide accommodations of up to three nights at historic, distinctive, and luxury properties…all at zero cost to the pastor.
From Virginia to Guatemala and Gatlinburg to New Mexico, Libre is amassing a unique collection of retreat destinations with one purpose: to help pastors and their families rest, reconnect, and recharge for the work ahead.
Before I tell you how you can support them, I want you to know why I am supporting them. My dear friend Brad O’Brien and I started on staff within a few weeks of one another over twenty years ago. We shared an office and experienced all the ups and downs of ministry and life together (there was even that one time he saved me from a man-eating snake teeny baby lizard which had invaded our office).
A few months ago Brad was named Executive Director of Libre Retreats, and I can think of no finer person on the planet to lead that work. Brad is a champion for pastors and a cheerleader for weary families. As he’s shared the vision for Libre with me over the last few months, I’ve known that it’s a vision I want to share with you.
There are four ways you can give to Libre Retreats:
- Give money. Join me in donating to the work of Libre. Your generosity supports their ongoing work and provides rest for pastors and their families.
- Share property. If you own an Airbnb, a vacation home, or a rental property, consider adding it to Libre’s inventory for a few weeks out of the year.
- Spread the word. The vast majority of you reading this blog are either a church staff member or you know one. Leverage your network to make sure they know about what Libre offers.
- Pray. The greatest work of Libre is not the destinations they provide but the renewal they foster. Join their prayer list to help restore the weary souls of pastors.
