An Interview With… (part two)
Connections Pastor Danny Franks recently caught up with Brier Creek AM’s new Campus Pastor, Danny Franks. We asked Danny to take a few minutes and explain exactly what this transition means. You can read part one of the interview here.
Danny, it seems that yesterday’s interview wasn’t quite clear enough, especially since there have been a line of Connections Pastor wanna be’s in your office all day long, measuring for drapes. I’d like to go back to the question and ask you to specifically tell me what you’re responsible for now. This is a dual role and you’re still the Connections guy, right?
Correct. As Connections Pastor, I’m responsible for three primary areas: First Impressions (guest services), Starting Point (getting new people connected, baptized, helping them get in small groups and ministry teams, etc.), and guest follow up (perhaps I should have put that in caps to make is seem more official). I oversee a team of five part-time and volunteer campus staff (and then a host of throughout-the-week volunteers) who make my job and my life much easier, and to be honest they’re getting really good at their jobs as they take on more responsibility.
As Campus Pastor, I serve as champion of those above things, as do all of our Campus Pastors, so it’s a great fit. I also work alongside our worship and production teams to make sure Sunday morning runs smooth and it’s a good experience for everyone involved. And of course there are other “duties as assigned” … mainly I predict that I will have to make a beef jerky run for J.D. one Sunday morning within the next two weeks.
What’s next on the horizon for Brier Creek’s AM campus?
We’ve got some cool stuff coming up. Easter, for one. It was such a success last year that we decided to do it again. The Creekers will be hearing much more about stuff like “Tipping Point Sunday” in the next couple of weeks. Plus, we’ll be rolling out some new communication tools. It’s gonna be fun.
Did you say “Creekers”? As in, “people who attend Brier Creek AM?”
Yeah, it was lame even as I said it. I don’t know what to call us. AM Posse? Brier Creek Crew? People Without A Steeple?
I got nothin’.
Will you be asking the Brier Creek PM campus pastor what to wear?
Congrats on the additional job title. I hope you’re getting an additional salary for it.
Congratulations, we are excited for you.
