Danny Recommends: Offering Buckets
Every so often we dip our toes into a series called Danny Recommends:, posts that tip you off to the stuff that I…you know. The recommendations might be products for use in your ministry, resources that will help you develop leaders around you, or just fun stuff that you need. Want. Whatever. I have a full list of recommended books and such over at the Reading List, but these posts will go into further detail. For other posts in the series, check out the link at the bottom.
Behold the lowly church offering receptacle.
It’s the bane of the stingy, the fear of the first-time guest, and the domain of the usher. It’s been threatened by Covid and QR codes and text-to-give options.
And yet, the offering plate (or bucket, if you will) still stands. Ain’t nobody kicking the bucket.
We’ve used many different offering options over the years as we launched campuses and replaced old receptacles due to wear and tear, but my go-to model has become a simple plastic bucket from a company called Jean’s Plastics, and available on Amazon.
They are available in packs of 3, 12, and 50. They come in black, white, silver, blue, red, yellow, ivory, and gold (because why not gold?). They’re outstandingly boring, decently durable, and they do the job they’re supposed to do. As one Amazon reviewer said, “These are the ugliest offering buckets I’ve ever seen.”
That may very well be, but as for me and my house, I’ve never walked out of church feeling inspired by a prettier offering bucket. But hey…bedazzle that joker if you so choose.
Depending on the quantity you order, you’re going to pay somewhere between six and thirteen bucks per bucket. However, compare that to the fancy silver-toned, felt-lined plates of our collective childhoods, which – the last time I checked – ran between fifty and seventy-five bucks. Each. I reckon the old saying “You gotta spend money to make money” has never been more true.
I digress.
Jean’s Plastics is easy to work with, as well. Though I’ve always ordered through Amazon, I had an issue with a recent order where a few of my buckets were cracked. They sent replacements right away, along with a gracious apology.
Order your offering buckets!

Disclaimer: FTC watchdogs will probably want to know that the vendors listed / linked above did not ask for this endorsement, nor did they provide me with free swag in order to do so. I’m just a really satisfied fan who wants to let you know about helpful things. I only promote items that have benefitted me and that I believe will benefit you. So there.
