The One “Guest Services Prayer” That God Always Answers
If I might be so bold, I know the question you can ask God that will almost always get a response.
It’s a question that’s easy enough to ask, but the answer might come with a bit of whiplash.
But it’s a question that we need to ask, and the whiplash – while sudden – is good for you and for others.
Here’s the question:
Who is my person today?
Asking God that one question on your drive to church is a sure-fire way to get an answer. The Holy Spirit will nudge your soul and make you notice the person in the lobby. He’ll open your eyes and let you see the guest sitting alone in the auditorium. He’ll make you aware of the anxious newcomer, the tearful teenager, the rambunctious child whose mom is at the end of her rope.
I’ve prayed that prayer over the years, and I’m always shocked at how aware I suddenly become. Of the new faces I see. Of the new situations I encounter.
Its not me that’s suddenly aware, of course. Nor is it you. It’s the work of the Spirit, who loves to draw in all men and women and point them to Jesus. But the Spirit loves to work in us to do that drawing.
So this Sunday, pray a dangerous prayer. And get ready for the whiplash.
