Believe: Finish Line?
Sunday was the culmination of our Believe project. At all four campuses all day long, we prayed, gave, and worshipped the God who made it all possible.
If you’re like me, Sunday was also the culmination of a faith-stretching exercise. My February involved lots of prayers, lots of searching, lots of listening to the still small voice of God. I’ll share another day what that looked like specifically, but for now I’ll tell you what I learned through the process:
God wasn’t nearly as interested in the number I wrote on my envelope as he was in the process that number represented.
I’m certain that I didn’t give as much as others in the church, but that’s not what was important. What was important was that as a church, we truly sought God on this thing. And in the end, that’s what will make the difference.
Does God need our money? You know the answer to that. He doesn’t need our money…he wants our hearts.
It was pretty cool watching all the people walk up to the baskets and thinking about all the lives that will be changed by those envelopes. Even if all of them just said prayer, think about how many people would be on their face for our city… Amazing!
