It Really Happened…
Last Thursday I was at Jacob’s baseball game against a school in Carrboro when up walks none other than the man, the myth, the legend himself…Dean Smith. Austin, my team manager and UNC fan extraordinaire, wasted no time in securing a Sharpie and marching right up to him – managerial water bottle responsibilities be darned.
Coach Smith was incredibly kind and accommodating to take time for one of his younger fans even as he was there to watch his own grandson play baseball. (They beat us, by the way.)
Word has it that this shirt will be retired as well. It’ll go nice with the collection he’s already started.
As much as I am NOT a Carolina fan, it’s still exciting to know that Austin got to meet Dean Smith. Even though I do NOT like Carolina, Josh and I saw Hansbrough in Target the other day and I couldn’t help but be interested. He bought a water filter. Ack! I’m stalking celebrities I don’t even like!
it definitely needs to go on the wall next to his retired jersey. His memorabilia collection is GROWING.
Austin was just trying to secure a new and better managerial position.
Do you think Austin is going to charge admission to his retired jersey/shirt collection or will he let me see them for free?
Now, Austin, you know you’re da man when you get Dean’s sig…..proud of you.
