Danny Recommends: Daly Goods / Preacher’s Notebook
Every so often we dip our toes into a series called Danny Recommends:, posts that tip you off to the stuff that I…you know. The recommendations might be products for use in your ministry, resources that will help you develop leaders around you, or just fun stuff that you need. Want. Whatever. I have a full list of recommended books and such over at the Reading List, but these posts will go into further detail. For other posts in the series, check out the link at the bottom.
A few years back I introduced you to Pastor Randall Creel, a Mississippi evangelist who created the “teaching notebook,” a leather three-ring binder that many of our staff team uses for teaching, preaching, weddings, funerals, and the occasional fancy grocery list.
Unfortunately, Pastor Creel has experienced some health problems that have prevented him from making his notebooks for the last year or so. While we pray that he’ll be able to return to that craft soon, his absence sent me on a search for a new supplier.
Enter Daly Goods.
Last year, one of my team members (thanks Seth!) stumbled across a handmade journal by Joe Daly of Texas. A quick trip through Joe’s Instagram feed proves that he is a craftsman of the highest order (for real: take a few minutes to scroll and salivate).
Our team reached out to Joe to create some personalized journals, and we couldn’t have been happier with the results. They are gorgeous, long-lasting, and feature the ability to swap out Moleskine notebooks so you can use them for basically forever. We loved them, our giftees loved them…errybody loved them. (That scarred bison leather? Beautiful.)
Our experience with Joe was so positive that I went out on a limb and asked him if he’d ever heard of the fabled teaching notebook, and could he potentially recreate one? Long story short, I sent him a sample and he spent a few weeks sourcing just the right materials to make what I wanted.
I’m now the proud (and grateful) owner of Joe’s prototype, and I couldn’t wait to tell you about Daly Goods’ new “Preacher’s Notebook.” It’s a half-size 3-ring binder that can be crafted from American Bison or Italian leather. Sermons, weddings, funerals, or the aforementioned grocery list can be printed, punched, and placed into the notebook for easy flipping. (Nerd tip: print your transcript on an 8.5 x 11″ paper, landscape size, and fold it over so the pages don’t cling together. I’ve even included a handy template for you.)
At the time this post goes live, Christmas is just around the corner, which means the Preacher’s Notebook (or any of Joe’s creations) should be on your list for you or someone else. Tell Joe I sent you!

Disclaimer: FTC watchdogs will probably want you to know that the Joe Daly / Daly Goods did not ask for this endorsement, nor will I receive affiliate commissions for this post or any sales that derive from it. I did receive a prototype of the Preacher’s Notebook as a free gift, but I was a fan / paying customer prior to that…and will continue to purchase from Joe in the years to come. I only promote items that have benefitted me and that I believe will benefit you. So there. 🙂
